1. How long will it take Spanish Moves to move my goods?
Every move is different and needs to be properly assessed before an approximate time scale can be given. The answer depends on many factors such as the:
- amount of packaging required.
- amount of furniture and personal effects to be moved.
- type of furniture you are moving from/to.
- access difficulties (ie. long carry, no lift).
- climatic conditions on the moving day.
- parking options available to our vehicles.
- distance between the collection and delivery points.
- manpower assigned to the move.
2. When should I contact Spanish Moves for a quotation?
You should begin 2-3 weeks before your intended moving date.
3. Are my goods insured on local and national moves?
From a legal point, the transport company is not obliged to subscribe to an additional transport insurance (also referred to as "All Risks" cover). It is up to the customer to take out extra cover for their belongings. Our Manager will assist you through various insurance options available. Spanish Moves consignments are automatically insured for a maximum value of 18,000 Euros (this is what is known as transit insurance). The policy covers damages to goods in the vehicle caused by fire, lightning, explosion, road accident, armed robbery, flooding and earthquake.
4. How do I arrange insurance cover through Spanish Moves?
Spanish Moves covers you against all insurable risks of loss or damage from the time we take charge of your belongings until they are delivered to you destination. This cover is known as transit insurance. However, we recommend all customers insure their goods and our expert staff can offer advice and assistance in this area.
5. Why do moving estimates vary so much in price?
When receiving quotations from different companies, you should carefully examine what is and what is not included in the estimate. Misleading advertising together with client unawareness can lead to undesirable outcomes. Here are some points to consider:
Have you received a written quotation?
If you gain an estimate over the telephone from a removals company always have this confirmed in writing. Do not ever agree to a verbal contract.
Does the quote include professional packing and materials?
Quality packing materials along with a professional packing service will contribute significantly to the overall cost of a move. Quotations that do not include this service will be less expensive.
Have you been offered adequate insurance cover?
If a company offers you free insurance, it will certainly only be transit insurance. This will not cover you for breakages, damages or missing items during loading and unloading. All Risk cover is subject to the client completing a proposal form. Insurance is calculated as a percentage of the declared value of the goods and is never "free".
Have you been quoted for a door to door service?
A common way to advertise the cheapest service available is depot to depot. This is generally a rate per cubic metre and does not include packing. There is also a minimum charge which usually is not mentioned. You are expected to take the goods into the moverīs depot yourself and collect them at the other end too. In this instance you are paying for a transport service not a removal.
Have you been underquoted?
If you have not received a binding quotation, which should include a list of the goods that the mover agrees to move for a determined price, you could end up paying more than you were anticipating. A mover can underquote you by accident and then claim for extra money because the end volume of the consignment does not correspond to the volume quoted. This is very common.
